Janelle's Baby Shower Cake

Double sheet cake for my co-worker's surprise baby shower.
I did my best to copy the napkin/invitation design.

Katie's "Salon Vanity" Cake

My sister Katie recently celebrated her 1 year anniversary since opening her beauty shop, Salon Vanity.
Her shop decor includes purple/black/zebra print and chandeliers.  I thought that this chandelier stencil would be the key to making her the perfect cake, but it turns out that cake stencils are WAY harder than they look! I had to scrape the icing off several times and start over (which is why it isn't very "smooth"), and finally settle on this one when I ran out of time.  I know it could have been worse, but I was disappointed that I didn't do better.  Stencils is just NOT going to be my specialty!

Tyler's 18th Birthday Marine Corps Cake

Here's what I had to go by:
And, the finished cake.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, except that my lettering is off.
(Hard to judge where to start and stop on a circle - if I had it to do over, I would have done the lettering first and THEN added the eagle/globe/anchor.)
It was a BIG cake.... that silver plate is actually a pizza pan! (It is sitting on a kitchen stool.)
Later at the party... I thought it looked neat with 18 candles on it :-).

Gwen's Penguin (PenGWEN!) Cake

This was a request for a friend's daughter, Gwen.  Gwen loves penguins and her nickname is Pengwen!
She especially loves the movie Happy Feet, so I used this guy for a model.
(The one on the left is the one I made out of fondant.)

"Ants on a Picnic" Cake

I just finished making this cake for a BBQ tomorrow at our friends' house.
I was inspired by some cupcakes that I saw in a book.

The ants are made of chocolate covered almonds. Mmm.
And the watermelon slices are made from fruit candies:
One cut and a quick "switcheroo" of the red and green pieces.
(Plus some chocolate icing for the "seeds".)
